KELOWNA, B.C. - The Heat volleyball teams take centre stage this Homecoming on Friday, as men's volleyball hosts an intrasquad showcase while the women take on the Augustana Vikings. On the road, five fall teams will compete, with women's golf teeing up at the Grisham Memorial Shootout, both soccer teams taking on UBC Thunderbirds and UFV Cascades, softball with another five-game slate in Alberta, and rugby kicking off their 2026 schedule against the Calgary Dinos.

Men's volleyball will bring in the Heat this Homecoming Friday as they serve up an intense Blue vs White intrasquad showcase in the Furnace. Heat fans will get an exciting first look at the squad before they return for their home opener in late October. Coming off an impressive 2025-26 campaign that ended with a conference record of 15-5, a U SPORTS No. 4 ranking, and a quarterfinal playoff appearance, the energy will be top-tier this Friday night, in a showcase you won't want to miss.

Following the men's showcase, the women's team will host an exhibition match against the visiting Augustana Vikings. With both new and returning faces on the lineup, this will give fans a preview of what the team will bring to the court this season while providing the squad with some competitive action before they get things in full swing with the home opener against the Brandon Bobcats in October. Students, alumni, and community members, get ready for an intense Friday of action.

Women's golf is kicking off their 2026-27 season as they head out to DuPont, Wash., for the 2026 Bob Grisham Memorial Shootout hosted by Saint Martin's. The golfers will compete in the NCAA Division II event, playing 36 holes at The Home Course, beginning Monday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
Senior golfer
Julia Alexander-Carew, a product of Oakville, Ont., will be one to watch this week as she helped lead the team to their third-place finish at the event last year. Individually, she finished tied for second place at 145, just one stroke over par.

Women's soccer is looking to add points to the column this weekend as they seek revenge against the No. 1 nationally ranked UBC Thunderbirds, meeting them for the second time this year on Friday before taking on the UFV Cascades on Saturday.
The Heat (0-2) hold a 5-8-2 all-time conference record against the Cascades (1-2-1). The two sides last met in a scoreless 0-0 draw, with UBCO claiming a 1-0 victory in the meeting prior in September of 2025, which extended their win streak over UFV at that time to six straight games. In that 1-0 victory, the team was led by now sophomore forward
Neala Peters, who netted her first career goal early in the 11th minute.

Men's soccer will also head out to the Lower Mainland this weekend, facing off against UBC for the second time before taking on UFV on Saturday. UBC currently sits atop the Canada West standings with a 5-0-1 conference record and are the No. 2 ranked team in the country.
Coming off a bye week after their first meeting with UBC, the men have had time to rest and recover ahead of what looks to be a competitive road trip. Saturday will mark their first battle with UFV this season, who will come into this match holding a 2-3-1 conference record. The Heat will be looking for redemption against the opposing team after dropping their last meeting against them in October 2025, falling 3-1 despite an equalizer from
Oliver Deveaux in the 32nd minute.
Men's Rugby
Saturday, Sept. 19 at Calgary Dinos - 11 a.m (PT) | Calgary, Alta.
Men's Rugby will begin their 2026-27 run with only one match on the road against the Calgary Dinos on their home turf.
Coming off an outstanding campaign last year, the team posted a clean 5-0 conference record and claimed back-to-back Prairie University Championship victories, defeating Calgary 31-23 and the Alberta Golden Bears 46-22, before making an appearance at the Canadian University Men's Rugby Championship.

Women's softball continues their road stretch, heading back to Alberta with another five-game schedule, taking on the Victoria Vikes, Calgary Dinos, SAIT Trojans, and Lethbridge Pronghorns once again. The Heat currently sit ranked first in the WCSA standings with a 10-2-1 record, followed by the Vikes at 10-3-1 and the Dinos at 7-6-0 in third.
Last weekend, the Heat went 4-1 in Calgary, led by Athletes of the Week
Taylor McRae and
Kamryn Allin. McRae went six-for-seven for an outstanding .857 batting average, and her home run against Saskatchewan helped give the Heat a 9-3 lead en route to a 10-3 victory. McRae finished the weekend with five RBIs, three runs scored, a walk, and a 1.75 ERA in 4.1 innings pitched. Meanwhile, Allin posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, starting as catcher for four of the five games played. She finished the weekend with a .333 batting average over 12 at-bats, scored three runs, one RBI, stole a base, and an on-base percentage of .385.
