Women's Soccer
Friday, Oct. 2 vs TWU Spartans - 5 p.m. | Nonis Sports Field
Sunday, Oct. 4 at Victoria Vikes - 1 p.m. | Victoria, B.C.

Coming off matches against both the No. 9 TWU Spartans (4-2-2) and the Victoria Vikes (0-1-4) last weekend, the Heat will get a second chance to break through as they face both sides again this week.

Last weekend, second-year midfielder Katie Scarth (Surrey, B.C.) made an immediate impact in their 4-1 loss to the Spartans, finding the back of the net on her lone shot in just the fourth minute to open the scoring. In their follow-up match against the Vikes, goalkeeper Kat McCleary made her debut in net, recording seven saves over 90 minutes and keeping a clean sheet to help the Heat earn a hard-fought 0-0 draw.

Heading into this weekend, the Heat (0-4-2) will have a better feel for both opponents, having already faced them, as they continue to push for their first victory of the season.

Men's Soccer
Friday, Oct. 2 vs Saskatchewan Huskies - 7:45 p.m. | Nonis Sports Field

Men's soccer returns to their home field this weekend for one match as they go head-to-head with the Saskatchewan Huskies (3-4).

Last weekend, rookie midfielder Mosi Klusman provided the bright spot for the Heat, slotting one between the sticks in the 52nd minute off an assist from Will Armitage to pull one back for UBCO. However, with Calgary already holding an early lead, the goal proved short-lived as Calgary added two more to seal the result.

Heading into Friday's match, the Heat hold a 1-2-1 all-time conference record against the Huskies, with the two sides having not met since 2023. The Heat will look to use home turf to their advantage as they push for their first win of the season.

UBCO will look to reclaim the WCSA Championship title, having won the last three. During the 2025-26 campaign, the team went undefeated over their final 23 games, finishing first in the standings with a 20-4-1 record before going a perfect 5-0 at both the WCSA and CCSA Championship weekends.

Last weekend's match against the Mount Royal Cougars was forfeited by the Cougars, giving the Heat a 3-0 victory to sit at 1-1 in the conference standings.

History is on UBCO's side heading into this weekend, as the men hold a 3-0 all-time conference record against the Alberta Golden Bears, including wins in both away games last October. The Heat boast a 5-0 historical mark against the Saskatchewan Huskies as well, dominating their previous meeting 42-0 last season.

Men's and Women's Golf
Monday, Oct. 5 - Tuesday, Oct. 6 at Canada West Championships | Paradise Canyon Golf Resort - Lethbridge, Alta. | Live Scoring

Both golf teams head to Lethbridge, Alta., this weekend to compete in the Canada West Golf Championships, hosted at Paradise Canyon Golf Resort, where they will face nine conference teams.

Senior golfer Julia Alexander-Carew, a product of Oakville, Ont., will be one to watch after a strong showing last weekend at the Grisham Memorial Shootout in Ferndale, Wash., where she placed third with an overall score of one-over-par 143. Brayden Card, another Ontario native on the Heat, is coming off a fourth-place finish at the Western Washington Invitational in Bellingham, Wash., which included a tournament-best first-round score of six-under-par 66.

The Heat come in with strong momentum from last season's Canada West Championships, where the women's team finished second, with Carew claiming the individual silver. The men's team took home first with Ryan Gillis, a fellow senior golfer, securing the individual bronze, while Andrew Rouble and Chris Jo were also named Second Team All-Stars at the event.
