University of British Columbia Okanagan

Heat Athlete Council (HAC)

The Heat Athlete Council (HAC) is a committee consisting of current UBC Okanagan Heat student-athletes. This group was created to enhance the experiences and wellbeing of Heat student-athletes as well as create a sense of community amongst all student-athletes. HAC organizes and participates in events, initiatives, and causes to celebrate UBC Okanagan Heat Athletics.

The goal is to have a minimum of one HAC representative from each team that has several set meetings with the Student-Athlete Success and Compliance Advisor (representing the Athletics & Recreation department) per term, and feels comfortable to approach the Advisor more often if needed. This representative will serve to summarize the team (specifically athlete) environment, and offer suggestions for improvement. The Student-Athlete Success and Compliance Advisor will assist HAC with program planning, communications, promotions, and logistics between them and the Athletics & Recreation department, the University, and the community at-large.
