KELOWNA, B.C. - The UBCO Heat men's volleyball team successfully hosted the second annual Okanagan School Grass Volleyball Championship on Friday, June 12 at City Park in Kelowna.
The event featured almost 300 athletes, from Grade 7 up to Grade 12, across 68 teams, representing 28 schools. In total, over 200 matches of volleyball happened over the course of the day over 18 courts.
Teams from Kelowna SS won three of the events, including Girls Grade 9/10, Boys Grade 11/12 and Girls Grade 11/12. Rutland Middle School captured first place in Girls Grade 7/8 Tier 1 while Kalamalka SS took home Girls Grade 7/8 Tier 2. WL Seaton SS was victorious in Boys Grade 7/8/9/10.
The team would like to thank all the support they received from partents, family, friends, coaches, teachers and school staff. The event will return for a third year in June 2027.
The Heat will host another grass tournament in August, the Kelowna Classic, at City Park on the 22nd and 23rd.
