Men’s volleyball sweeps Sherbrooke in two-game exhibition series

The Heat are off to a 6-1 start in the preseason

SHERBROOKE, Que. – The UBCO Heat men's volleyball team enjoyed a successful road trip with two nail-bitting victories over the weekend.

In the first matchup on Friday, the Heat stormed out to a two-set lead before letting the Vert & Or back in. A tight fifth set showed UBCO's resolve as they took the victory 15-13 and the match (25-22, 25-23, 16-25, 21-25, 15-13).

UBCO took on Sherbrooke in a rematch on Saturday and got the best of the host team once again in five sets (25-22, 25-23, 20-25, 23-25, 15-10). In similar form to the night prior, the Heat won the first two frames before the Vert & Or captured the next two. The fifth set saw the Heat come out on top by five points.

It has been a successful preseason so far for the Heat as they are coming off a 4-0 Rocky Mountain Cup in early October, where they dropped only two sets during the whole weekend.

The focus now shifts to the Blue Team Cup in Calgary, where the Heat will take on the Trinity Western Spartans on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m. Pacific Time before facing the host Mount Royal Cougars on Friday, Oct. 16, at 5 p.m. Pacific Time. The tournament concludes with a match against the UBC Thunderbirds on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m. Pacific Time.
