KELOWNA, B.C. – The UBC Okanagan Heat men's soccer team will be heading into the 2024 regular season on a high note after picking up a 3-1 victory over the Skagit Valley Cardinals on Friday afternoon.
The match, which wrapped up a two-game preseason road swing through Washington, saw the Heat get goals from
Malachi Emerson of Surrey, B.C., rookie Aidan Synnuck of Sidney, B.C., and
Dario Fedele of Port Coquitlam, B.C., to come away with the victory.
One day earlier, UBCO faced the Whatcom Orcas in Bellingham, WA, where they suffered a 2-1 defeat. Second-year forward
Oliver Deveau of Vancouver, netted his third goal of the preseason in the loss, joining Emerson as the Heat's leading scorers through their four preseason matches.
The Heat will now turn their focus to their regular season opener which is set for Friday, August 23 when they travel to Vancouver to take on the UBC Thunderbirds. Game time is set for 7 p.m. and fans can catch the action live on CanadaWest.tv or follow along with @UBCOHeat on X for live updates.
