Heat part ways with men’s soccer head coach Dante Zanatta

UBCO will launch national search for next head coach in the near future

KELOWNA, B.C. – The UBC Okanagan Department of Athletics and Recreation announced on Thursday that they have parted ways with men's soccer head coach Dante Zanatta.

Zanatta departs UBCO after 16 years at the helm of the program, accumulating a 54-112-48 record, including 13 seasons in Canada West and three in PACWEST. He led the team to three playoff appearances during that span.

"I want to thank Dante for his 16 years of service and the contributions he has made to the program," said Spencer Pommells, the Heat's Director of Varsity Sport. "While moving on from someone who has been part of this program for as long as Dante has been is never easy, his commitment to our student-athletes and the Heat has been valued, and we appreciate the time and effort he has invested throughout his tenure."

"
The department is committed to supporting our student-athletes as we move through this period of transition," added Pommells. "We are looking forward to building a coaching structure that will support our ambitions of having a team that will compete with the best in Canada West."

The Heat will immediately begin the process to find the program's next head coach and plan to launch a national search for the position in the near future.
