KELOWNA, B.C. – The UBC Okanagan Heat men's soccer team got their 2024 preseason schedule off to a strong start this past weekend as they earned a win and a draw against their rivals, the Thompson Rivers WolfPack, in a home-and-home series.
The two teams opened the weekend in Kelowna at Nonis Sports Field on Friday afternoon where they played to a 2-2 tie. Fourth-year forward
Malachi Emerson of Surrey, B.C., and second-year forward
Oliver Deveau of Vancouver, each scored for the Heat in the match.
Emerson and Deveau were back at it again on Sunday in Kamloops as the pair each tallied again as the Heat took a 2-0 win against TRU.
UBCO will wrap up their four-game preseason schedule this week as they travel to Washington for a pair of matches. The Heat will face the Watcom Orcas in Bellingham on Thursday, August 15 followed by a meeting with the Skagit Valley Cardinals on Friday, August 16.
