Box Score LANGLEY, B.C. – For the second consecutive night, nothing separated the UBC Okanagan Heat men's soccer team and the Trinity Western Spartans as the two teams played to a 0-0 draw on Saturday evening.
One day after the two teams tied 1-1 at Chase Office Field, offence was even more difficult to come by on a wet pitch as the rain came down throughout the contest.
Both teams managed to generate nine shot attempts during the game but little in the way troubled the keepers.
Heat keeper Nicholas Reitsma of Kelowna, B.C., earned his 10th career shutout as he made four saves, including a big save early in the second half on a shot from long range.
Spartans keeper Sebastian Colyn of Langley, B.C., managed to turn away three shots to pick up the clean sheet, including an impressive save off Heat midfielder Jimmy Steel of Salt Spring Island, B.C., midway through the second half.
With the two draws, the Heat (0-0-2) sit tied for second in the West division with two points, deadlocked with Spartans, UBC Thunderbirds and Thompson Rivers Wolfpack. The four teams trail the Victoria Vikes (1-0-1), the lone team in the division to pick up a victory in the opening weekend of play.
The Heat will return home to Kelowna as they prepare for their home opener on Saturday, September 18 against the aforementioned Wolfpack. The two team's will be also competing in the first round of the President's Cup, awarded to the University which wins the season series in soccer, basketball and volleyball.
Kickoff on Saturday is set for 3:30 p.m. at Nonis Field.
