KELOWNA, B.C. — The UBCO Heat men's soccer team fell to the UFV Cascades by a score of 3-1 on Saturday at Nonis Sports Field.
UBCO and UFV ended the first half tied 1-1 after a series of back-and-forth plays. UFV initially took the lead in the 28th minute with a goal from Mateo Brazinha, assisted by Beckham Hatch, but UBCO's
Oliver Deveau equalized in the 34th minute with his 2nd goal of the season.
The Heat managed to create multiple opportunities in the opening 45 minutes with two corner kicks and tested UFV's defence with five shots.
UFV capitalized on their offensive opportunities in the second half, scoring twice to secure the win. Kevin Mailand's goal in the 50th minute put UFV ahead, and Dante Colebourne added another in the 71st minute, assisted by Sloan Hatch.
Deveau scored one goal and added three shots, with two on target.
Ronan Woodroffe made four saves while facing seven shots.
Jacobo Saenz Ramos contributed two shots, with one being on goal.
Up next for the Heat, they will host the Trinity Western Spartans in their regular season finale on Sunday, October 19. The match is set for 1 p.m. at Nonis Sports Field. Prior to kickoff, the team will honour their five graduating seniors including Saenz Ramos,

Malachi Emerson,
Aidan Young and
Matteo Clarke.
