Women's volleyball opens their regular season at home with a doubleheader on Friday and Saturday against the Brandon Bobcats.

UBCO last met Brandon in November 2025, picking up a 3-2 (21-25, 25-21, 21-25, 25-21, 19-17) win in which former middle Madison Gardner set a team record with eight aces in a match. She finished with 22.5 points in the five-set victory. The team holds a 14-8 all-time conference record against Brandon.

Interim head coach Mark Broome will get his first look at the team, which features a mix of veterans and new players, led by seniors Calista Cencig, Ava Dahl, Kylan Finseth, Marija Josipovic, Kirsten Hill, Rachel Rosser, and Faith Solecki.

Men's volleyball is back in action in the Furnace this weekend as they start their 2026-27 schedule at home with a pair of games against the visiting Brandon Bobcats. The Heat have enjoyed a strong warm-up slate, going 6-4 in exhibition play, including a 4-0 run at the Rocky Mountain Cup, an annual tournament in Revelstoke, B.C.

The Heat swept the Bobcats in both road matches last November. Last season, they climbed to No. 4 in the U SPORTS rankings, going 15-5 in conference play before winning one match in a best-of-three Canada West quarterfinal series. This year, the squad will look to move up the standings once again and have multiple returning starters, including Canada West Second Team All-Star Thys Weststrate, Seba Manuel, Xander van Driel, Ashton South, and Lucas Woelders.

Women's Soccer
Friday, Oct. 23 at TRU WolfPack - 5 p.m. | Kamloops, B.C. | Presidents' Cup | Webcast
Sunday, Oct. 25 at UNBC Timberwolves - 12 p.m. | Prince George, B.C. | Webcast

Women's soccer is on the road as they head to Kamloops, B.C., to take on the TRU WolfPack (6-2-4) before travelling to Prince George, B.C., for a Sunday matchup with the UNBC Timberwolves (0-12).

Coming off a tough weekend, the team is in search of a pair of wins to wrap up the year. Their last meeting with the WolfPack, in September, ended in a 2-1 defeat, despite fifth-year forward Megan Sun scoring her first goal of the season. A victory over the WolfPack would help even out the Presidents' Cup race as the Heat (2-8-2) look to keep the cup at home.

Against the Timberwolves, the Heat hold a 12-5-7 all-time conference record and are on a five-game winning streak, having won their most recent meeting 3-2 earlier this month at Nonis Sports Field.

Men's soccer will play in their final games of the regular season, as they face off against the TRU WolfPack (6-6-1) on Friday before travelling to UNBC Timberwolves (2-6-6) territory for a mid-afternoon match on Sunday.

Goalkeeper Ronan Woodroffe earned UBCO Athlete of the Week honours after a record-setting weekend in which he became the Canada West career saves leader. He made 10 saves against the Victoria Vikes to record the 357th save of his career, surpassing Tyrone Venhola of the Timberwolves, whose mark of 356 had stood for the past nine years.

Men's rugby is set to compete in the Prairies U Championship, starting with a semifinal matchup against the Calgary Dinos before playing either a gold or bronze medal match on Sunday in Calgary.

Following a strong regular season, the Heat (4-1) are coming off a 49-12 win over the SAIT Trojans (2-3). The men won their second straight Prairies U title last year and will look to make it three in a row.

Men's and Women's Golf
Monday, Oct. 26 - Tuesday, Oct. 27 at OUAZ Fall Invitational | Gold Mountain Golf Club - Bremerton, Wash. | Men's Live Scoring | Women's Live Scoring

Both golf teams will play their final tournament of the fall season at the OUAZ Fall Invitational, a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) event hosted by the OUAZ Spirit, at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash.

When the teams last competed at the event, they each won their division. The men finished first at 861 (-3) and the women at 881 (+17). Golfers Julia Alexander-Carew and Oakley Mayner finished under par at 209 (-7) and 211 (-5), respectively.

Alexander-Carew has been named this week's UBCO Athlete of the Week after capturing the 10th collegiate tournament title of her career at the Western Washington Invitational. The fourth-year's two-round score of two-under-par 142 won her the individual title and helped propel the Heat from fifth place after Day 1 to a runner-up finish.

The men's team is coming off a 2-0 win over the Victoria Vikes at the British Columbia Golf Association (BCGA) match play event, while the women split over the two-day competition.
