VANCOUVER – The UBCO Heat cross country teams competed in their first cross country meet of the season on Sunday running in the Vancouver Spirit Run at Jericho Beach Park.
Second-year
Sophie Hamilton and fourth-year
Owen Lloyd led the way for the Heat as they each grabbed seventh-place finishes in their respective 8-kilometer races. Hamilton posted a time of 26 minutes and 50 seconds to finish as the fourth-best university runner in the women's race while Lloyd ran a time of 23:51, finishing as the fifth-best university runner in the men's race.
Other notable Heat performances came from men's rookie
Ethan Nozick who finished 12
th overall with a time of 23:58 while fellow first-year
Maraid Johnson was 17
th in the women's race in 27:48.
The Heat will now head to Calgary to compete in the Western Canadian Challenge next Saturday, October 4.
