Last weekend, the Heat competed in the Blue Team Cup, opening with a win against the Mount Royal Cougars. They pushed Trinity Western to four sets before narrowly falling and closed out the weekend with a hard-fought match against the UBC Thunderbirds.

The UBCO Heat women's soccer team will play their final home games of the regular season this weekend as they take on the UNBC Timberwolves on October 11th and 12th. Sunday's match on the 12th will be extra special as the team celebrates and honours their graduating seniors, Annika Gross, Abigail Taneda, Sydney Kolodziej, Jaidyn McGrath, Talia Gagnon and Ciana Dawydiuk-Clozza for their dedication and contributions to the program.

Last weekend, the Heat were on the road facing some strong competition in Canada West. They battled hard against the top-ranked UBC Thunderbirds, showing grit and determination, but unfortunately fell short. The following day, they made program history by defeating the Victoria Vikes 2–1 on the Vikes' home field, marking the first time in UBCO Heat soccer history that the team has ever beaten Victoria on their own turf.

Third-year pitcher Kate Hourihane was a standout last weekend throughout the entire tournament. She started all five games over the two days, finishing with a perfect 5-0 record, 2.72 ERA and 16 strikeouts across 37 innings, throwing 468 pitches. Last weekend, men's soccer fought hard and split their home series against the UNBC Timberwolves, earning a strong 3-2 win before just falling short in the rematch. This week, the Heat head to Kamloops for a crucial weekend against the TRU WolfPack as they kick off the annual race for the Presidents' Cup.

With playoff hopes still alive, the Heat will look to build on their momentum and put together a strong finish through their final four matches to stay in the hunt for a postseason berth. Every point will be vital down the stretch, and the high-stakes rivalry should bring out the best in both sides.
