EDMONTON – UBC Okanagan Heat men's track runner
Basil Parkins got the 2025 track season underway for the Heat this past weekend as he was the school's lone competitor at the Golden Bears Open.
Parkins opened his weekend on Friday with the 800m where he finished third in a strong time of one minute, 59.92 seconds, finishing less than a second behind Jonah Salvatore from the Calgary Dinos for first.
The third-year management major then competed in the 1000m on Saturday where he finished 14
th in the field of 20 competitors, posting a time of 2:35.41.
The Heat men's and women's track teams will both return to action on Friday, February 7 when they travel back to Edmonton to compete in the Pandas Open.
