KELOWNA, B.C. – The 2024 Canada West women's soccer schedule was announced on Monday and the UBC Okanagan Heat women's soccer team will kick off their regular season on home turf as they tangle with the Thompson Rivers WolfPack at Nonis Sports Field.
Set to play the first game on the brand-new turf on Nonis Sports Field, the Heat and WolfPack will renew hostilities on Friday, August 30 in one of the fiercest rivalries in Canada West women's soccer. The home opener will also mark the first game of the 2024-25 women's Presidents' Cup rivalry series between UBCO and TRU which the Heat have won for three consecutive years.
The Heat will continue their three-game homestand to start the season the following weekend as they host the UFV Cascades on September 6 and the Trinity Western Spartans on September 7.
Following a two-game road trip against UBC and UNBC, the Heat will play four straight at home to close out the home portion of their schedule.
Leading off the homestand will be a Homecoming showdown against the Mount Royal Cougars on Friday, September 20 as alumni and students will pack Nonis Sports Field to cheer on the Heat to victory.
After home games against Victoria (September 21) and UNBC (September 27), UBCO will honour their graduating seniors prior to their final home matchup against the reigning U SPORTS Champion UBC Thunderbirds on Saturday, September 28.
To close out their schedule, the Heat will play five consecutive road games and will close out the regular season in Calgary against the aforementioned Cougars on Sunday, October 20.
The Canada West postseason gets underway on the weekend of October 25 with the conference quarter-finals followed by the Final Four which is set to run from October 31 to November 2 and will be hosted by the highest remaining Prairie Division seed.
The U SPORTS Championship will run from November 7 to 10 and will be hosted by the Dalhousie Tigers in Halifax.
