KELOWNA, B.C. - UBCO Heat women's soccer midfielder
Annika Gross was named a Canada West Pacific Division All-Star on Friday morning as the conference announced it's 2025 all-stars and all-rookie teams.
For Gross, a native of Kelowna, the award marks the third time in her career that she's been recognized as a Canada West all-star, joining former women's volleyball student-athlete Katy Klomps as the only athletes in UBCO history to be named a Canada West all-star three times.
The fifth-year health and exercise sciences major had another outstanding regular season for the Heat in her final year with the team. She scored three goals, second-most on the team, while adding an assist. As a defensive midfielder, she also helped hold opponents to just 18 goal scored this season, the second-fewest the Heat have allowed since joining Canada West in 2014
Her efforts see her close her time at UBCO ranked fourth all-time for career goals with seven, third all-time for career assists with five and tied for third all-time in career points with 12.
Gross will be looking to lead the Heat to one more milestone on Saturday, October 25 when she leads the team into Calgary to face the Mount Royal Cougars in the Canada West quarter-finals. UBCO will be looking for their first-ever Canada West playoff victory and to punch their ticket to the Canada West Final Four when the teams square off at 12 p.m. (PT) live on CanadaWest.tv presented by BioSteel.
