ABBOTSFORD, B.C. – Competing in their first match since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the UBC Okanagan Heat women's soccer team posted a 3-2 victory on Saturday to kick off their 2021 non-conference schedule at MRC Sports Complex.
Despite falling behind by a pair of goals early in the match, the Heat tallied three times in seven minutes to erase the deficit before hanging on for the win.
The blue and gold received goals from Stefanie Young of Kelowna, B.C., Yvonne Manwaring of Kamloops, B.C., and Rhema Batchondo of Surrey, B.C., while keeper Molly Race of Vernon, B.C. picked up the win.
Non-conference play will continue for the Heat next weekend as they travel to Alberta for a pair of games. They will take on the Calgary Dinos on Friday, August 27 at 6:30 p.m. PT before heading to Edmonton on Saturday, August 28 to face the Alberta Pandas at 5:30 p.m. PT.
