Box Score KELOWNA, B.C. - For the second time in as many nights, the UFV Cascades topped the UBC Okanagan Heat women's soccer team by a score of 1-0 on Nonis Sports Field.
Hannah Gamble's game-winner in the 85th minute leads the Cascades into the playoffs on a high note, taking a six-game win streak with them.
Prior to Saturday's match, the Heat honoured four graduating players; Erica Lampert, Anastazia Ziros, Jill Hunt, and Kacee Ougden. The quartet suited up for a combined 157 games in Heat uniforms.
UFV would outshoot the host Heat 11-7 in the winning effort.
UBCO's goalie Molly Race, from Vernon, B.C., capped off her impressive rookie season with a six-save performance. Her 66 saves on the year are good for most of any Heat keeper since 2015-16. She also ends the season tied for most shutouts in one year for UBCO, with three.
Stephanie Young would go scoreless over the two-game set, but her five goals on the season stands as a UBCO record in a Canada West season.
The Heat finish their year with a 2-7-3 record, while the Cascades (6-4-2) continue their campaign with playoff action.
