CALGARY, Alta. — The UBCO Heat were bested 5-1 by the Calgary Dinos on Saturday, as an early surge from Calgary put them at a 3-0 lead before the half. Despite
Mosi Klusman's fight to earn one back for UBCO in the second half, Calgary would add two more to seal the result.
On the Heat side, Klusman led the attack after subbing in for
Carter Brown at halftime, finding the back of the net on his lone shot attempt off an assist from
Will Armitage.
For Calgary, Josral Frederick opened the scoring early in the 11th minute before Luis Rangel-Kataev had himself a night, scoring twice, including the game-winning goal, and adding an assist. Efe Udolu-Joshua also registered two and led the Dinos with four shots.
The Dinos scored three times in the first half and outshot the Heat 9-1, including a 4-1 edge in shots on goal. Brown put a shot on target for the Heat, and the visitors earned three
Allan Yin corner kicks in a short stretch, but the Dinos kept the Heat scoreless in the first half.
In the second half, the Dinos outshot the Heat 7-2 and delivered twice. Klusman netted the Heat's first goal in the 52nd minute. Woodroffe made two saves after halftime, and the Heat also blocked two late Dinos' attempts before the match concluded at 5-1.
The Heat will look to come back stronger as they stay in Calgary to face the No. 7 Mount Royal Cougars on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m.
