KELOWNA, B.C. — The UBCO Heat suffered a 4-0 defeat to the Victoria Vikes on Saturday at Nonis Sports Field.
Evan Larson played a pivotal role for the Vikes, scoring one goal from four shots on target and securing the game-winning goal. Felipe Morales Moya and Jag Zaharia also found the back of the net, contributing to the team's success.
Victoria capitalized on its offensive pressure in the first half, taking a 2-0 lead over the Heat. Larson broke through in the 21st minute with an assisted goal by Jack Napier-Ganley. Victoria extended its lead in the 43rd minute with a goal from Morales Moya. Woodroffe managed several key saves, but Victoria's persistent attack resulted in a total of 11 shots during the half.
The Vikes took control of the second half, capitalizing on a series of offensive opportunities to secure a decisive result. Zaharia sealed the victory for the Vikes with two late goals in the 89th and 90th minutes, pushing the final score to 4-0.
Looking ahead, UBCO will face the UBC Thunderbirds in a conference matchup on Friday, Sept. 4, at 7:45 p.m. The game will take place at Nonis Sports Field, marking an exciting contest for the home team.
