Men's soccer loses on the road to No. 1-ranked UBC

Heat suffer 5-0 loss to wrap up four-game road trip in Vancouver

VANCOUVER, B.C. — The UBCO Heat men's soccer team (0-8-2) lost 5-0 to the U SPORTS No. 1-ranked UBC Thunderbirds (10-0-0) at Thunderbird Stadium on Saturday.

The Thunderbirds jumped out to a lead less than five minutes into the match as Joven Mann found the back of the net. 20 minutes later, Luke Norman would add another for the hosts as they led 2-0 at the break.

UBCO had no answer for a potent Thunderbirds attack in the second half as Markus Rukavina, Asvin Chauhan and Oliver Herbert each added goals to round out the scoring.

Tyson Gugushe made eight saves in the first half in goal for the Heat. He was replaced by Ronan Woodroffe for the second half and the senior finished with two saves. Dario Fedele and Namvinh Nguyen contributed offensively with a shot on goal each.

UBCO will be back in action next weekend on home turf where they will host the UNBC Timberwolves for a weekend doubleheader. Game one of the weekend is set for Saturday, October 4 with kickoff at 1 p.m.
