Heat volleyball teams to host Alberta for 2025-26 home openers

The men’s and women’s volleyball teams will tangle with the Pandas and Golden Bears on October 31 after opening the regular season on the road at Manitoba and Regina respectively

KELOWNA, B.C. – Volleyball action will return to the UBCO Gymnasium on Friday, October 31 with the UBC Okanagan Heat women's and men's teams set to host the University of Alberta as the Canada West conference announced the 2025-26 regular season schedule on Thursday morning.
 
After opening their season with a trip to the Prairies, the men against Manitoba and the women against Regina, the Heat will look to put a scare into the Golden Bears and Pandas on Halloween night with the men getting underway at 5:30 p.m. followed by the women at 7:30 p.m.
 
The two teams will wrap up their weekend doubleheaders the following night, Saturday, November 1, at 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. respectively.
 
The home games will be two of 10 that UBCO will host over the course of the 20-game Canada West regular season schedule.
 
Other highlights from the opening term of play will see the women's team host their annual School Day Game on Friday, November 7 against the MacEwan Griffins.
 
In addition, both Heat teams will renew their Presidents' Cup rivalry with the Thompson Rivers WolfPack on home court on Friday, November 21 and Saturday, November 22.
 
Term two, which gets underway in January, will see the Heat open on home court for a weekend doubleheader against the Calgary Dinos on Friday, January 9 and Saturday, January 10.
 
Following a bye weekend, UBCO will close out their 2025-26 home schedule against the Trinity Western Spartans, with the two teams' graduating seniors' celebrations set for Saturday, January 24.
 
The Heat will wrap up their regular season schedule with a four-game road trip, ending with a showdown against their sister-school rivals, the UBC Thunderbirds, on February 13 and 14.
 
Canada West postseason play gets underway with the play-in series taking place February 20–22, followed by quarter-final matchups the next weekend.
 
The Canada West Final Four will be contested March 6 and 7.
 
The 2026 U SPORTS women's national championships will be hosted by the Trinity Western Spartans in Langley, B.C., while Windsor hosts the men's edition. Both tournaments run from March 13 to 15.
