HENDERSON, Nev. – The UBC Okanagan Heat men's golf team shook off the winter rust and opened their spring season with a sixth-place finish at the RMC Intercollegiate at Lake Las Vegas, an NAIA tournament held at Reflection Bay Golf Club.
The Heat finished 13 strokes outside the top five, recording a total of 34 birdies across the two-day, three-round tournament. UBCO was also third among Canada West competition at the event finishing behind UBC and Victoria.
Leading the way in the individual standings was rookie
Thomas Lemay (Trois-Rivières, Que.) who shot a 10-over par 216, while third-year
Andrew Rouble (Wellesley, Ont.) posted 13-over, both securing top-20 finishes. Meanwhile, first-year
David Ursu (Markham, Ont.) made his tournament debut for the Heat.
Looking ahead, the Heat set their sights on a strong showing at the Maverick Desert Classic, teeing off March 10-11 at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz.
