KELOWNA, B.C. - UBCO Heat men's volleyball outside hitter Seba Manuel was one of eight athletes to be named a player of the week by the Canada West conference on Tuesday afternoon.

Manuel, a native of Kelowna, earns the recognition for the first time in his Heat career while becoming the fourth different Heat athlete to be named a Canada West player of the week this season. He joins women's cross country runner Lauren McNeil (twice), women's golfer Julia Alexander-Carew, and men's golfer Ryan Vest as UBCO athletes to be recognized in the 2025-26 season.

Manuel had the best weekend of his career to help lead UBCO to a weekend sweep over the defending national champion Bobcats.

He opened the weekend with a 20-kill performance on Friday, setting a new career-high for kills in a match, while committing just two errors to lead the Heat to a four-set win. The fourth-year outside hitter followed that up with 19 more kills in Saturday's five set win, recording a career-best 39 kills over two matches. He would add three crucial service aces in consecutive fashion in the fifth-set that created the cushion needed for the Heat to close out the match and set a new school record for most wins in a Canada West season with 11 through just 12 games played.
