KELOWNA, B.C. – The UBCO Heat men's volleyball team continued their climb up the national rankings on Monday as they moved up two spots in the U SPORTS Top 10 to fourth after a weekend sweep of the Brandon Bobcats.
Battling the defending national champion Bobcats in their home gym, the Heat showcased their balanced offensive attack and stifling defence to extend their winning streak to eight games, while setting a new team record for wins in a Canada West season with 11.
Now owning an 11-1 record, UBCO continues to sit atop the Canada West standings, two wins and three points ahead of the UBC Thunderbirds, who remained in top spot in the national rankings this week. The Heat also continue to lead all Canadian universities in wins and are one of just three programs in the country with only a single defeat this season.
Heading into the holiday and exam break, three members of the Heat continue to sit among the top players in Canada in various statistical categories. Middle
Thys Weststrate leads all players with 70 blocks this season while setter
