SHERBROOKE, Que. – UBCO Heat men's cross country runner
Owen Lloyd posted his best finish at the U SPORTS Championship on Saturday as he placed 74th out of a field of 163 runners at the 2025 event hosted by the Sherbrooke Vert et Or on the Université de Sherbrooke campus.
Lloyd, competing in his second U SPORTS Championship, posted a time of 26 minutes and 15 seconds, matching the program's second-best finish at the national championship. His 74th place showing equals the result of Michael Mitchell back in 2019.
Connor Baerg, Lloyd's former teammate, remains UBCO's best finisher in the men's race, finishing 60th in 2021.
Lloyd's result marks a 27-place improvement on his performance from last year in Kelowna when he finished 101
st.
Laval's Philippe Morneau-Cartier won his third consecutive national championship in a time of 24:14 while the Queen's Gaels repeated as team champions.
