BUCKEYE, Ariz. – UBCO Heat women's golfer
Julia Alexander-Carew earned her third win in 2025 as she finished first at the Firestorm Fall Invitational, an NAIA event hosted by the Arizona Christian Firestorm, that wrapped up on Wednesday afternoon at the Verrado Golf Club.
After winning the Golf Canada Canadian University/College Championship in June, and the OUAZ Fall Invitational in October, Alexander-Carew was back in the winner's circle for UBCO after shooting a three-round total of one-under par 215.
The native of Oakville, Ont., was incredibly consistent during her tournament, firing 10 birdies and nine bogeys over 54 holes. The highlight of her week was her second round where she shot two-under par 70 to take a lead she would not relinquish.
The victory marks the seventh of her UBCO career in just two and a half years of competition.
Joining Alexander-Carew on the individual podium at the event was fifth-year
Lauren Nedo who bounced back after a sluggish opening round to shoot even-par 216 and finish tied for second. Nedo got herself into contention for the title with an impressive round of three-under par 69 during Tuesday's second round that featured four birdies to just one bogey.
Bess Chan finished alone in fifth place, giving UBCO three golfers in the top five, after finishing at four-over par 220. Chan's performance was highlighted by a round of four-under par 68, tied for the best round of the tournament, during the second round.
Thanks to these strong individual results, UBCO earned a second-place finish in the team standings. The Heat finished at 23-over par 887, three shots back of the champions from Embry-Riddle.
The tournament wraps up the Heat's fall schedule as they will now break for the term before resuming competition in the spring.
