Men's basketball suffers setback to Spartans

Heat unable to contain Trinity Western's three-point shooting in 105-62 loss

LANGLEY, B.C. - The UBCO Heat men's basketball team (3-6) suffered a tough road loss on Friday night at the Langley Events Centre, falling 105-62 to the Trinity Western Spartans (3-6).

The Spartans rode a strong shooting night from three-point range to propel them to victory as they finished the game shooting 44 percent from deep, hitting 18 of 41 attempts.

Lamine Conde led the Heat in scoring, finishing with 19 points, seven rebounds and two blocks, while Jalen Shirley added 11 points, four rebounds and four assists.

Five Spartans finished in double figures on the night, led by Marcus Shankar's 20 points.

The two teams will be back in action on Saturday night, November 22, as UBCO looks to earn the weekend split. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. and the game can be seen live on CanadaWest.tv presented by BioSteel.
