LANGLEY, B.C. — The UBCO Heat men's basketball team (3-7) fell to the Trinity Western Spartans (4-6) 88-53 at the Langley Events Centre on Saturday night.
Despite ten steals from the Heat, Trinity Western maintained a significant lead throughout the game, highlighted by their 42.9 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
Jalen Shirley led the team with 20 points, including two 3-pointers, and finished a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.
Lamine Conde contributed 11 points and showcased defensive acumen with four steals and a block.
Mathias Schertzer was effective on the boards, collecting seven rebounds while scoring four points.
Larry Shyaka Gisa added defensive support with three steals and two assists.
David Mutabazi led Trinity Western with an impressive performance, tallying 14 points and securing 11 rebounds while shooting 60 percent from the field. Connor Platz also made significant contributions, scoring 19 points, including three 3-pointers, and adding eight rebounds and four blocks.
In their next game, the Heat will face off against the nationally-ranked UBC Thunderbirds on Friday, Nov. 28, at 5:30 p.m. UBCO will be hosting their Retro Night which will feature the team wearing throwback uniforms honouring the OUC Lakers teams of the past.
