KELOWNA, B.C. - The UBCO Heat women's cross country team will head to the U SPORTS Championships in Sherbrooke, Que., ranked eighth in the country after U SPORTS released its final Top 10 rankings of the season on Tuesday.
After bringing home a bronze medal from the Canada West Championships on the weekend, the Heat rose one spot in the rankings, moving from a tie for ninth with the Guelph Gryphons into a tie for eighth with the Gryphons.
The team, who will feature Canada West individual champion
Lauren McNeil, Canada West all-stars
Sophie Hamilton and
Tori Bouck, Canada West All-Rookie team member
Maraid Johnson, along with
Ella Wigmore and
Sharanya Vijayaraghavan at nationals, will look make a run at UBCO's all-time best finish at the U SPORTS Championships, a fifth-place showing in 2022.
Last year, UBCO finished sixth at the national championship when it was hosted on their home course at Mission Recreation Park in Kelowna.
