SASKATOON, Sask. – UBCO middle distance runner
Ella Wigmore led the way for the Heat at the 2026 Canada West Track and Field Championships as she earned the program's lone top 10 finish in the 3000m.
The first of two events on the weekend for the fourth-year runner, Wigmore started with a bang on Friday night, finishing seventh in 10 minutes, 26.05 seconds. That result earned the Heat two points in the women's team standings as they finished the championship ninth overall.
Wigmore also ran in the 1500m on Saturday, placing 17
th in 4:52.79.
The Heat men had one competitor competing as well with fourth-year
Kyle Porter competing in the 3000m and 1500m. On Friday, Porter came 11th in the 3000m in 8:54.10 while he finished 25th in the 1500m on Saturday in 4:08.13.
The conference championships represented the final meet of the year for the Heat who will shift gears and being preparing for the cross country season in the Fall.
