VICTORIA – The UBC Okanagan Heat men's golf team closed out their 2024 spring schedule with a fifth-place finish at the Vikes Spring Shootout that wrapped up on Tuesday at the Cordova Bay Golf Club.
Competing in their final tournament before the 2024 Canadian University/College Championships in June, the Heat were led by rookies
Max Regier and
Ryan Gillis once again as the duo each finished inside the Top 20 on the individual leaderboard.
Regier, a native of Saskatoon, Sask., finished in a tie for 11
th after firing a two-day total of eight-over par 150. The health and exercise sciences major opened the tournament with a strong round of two-over par 73 which feature four birdies. He would close with a round of six-over par 77 to earn his second-best finish of the season.
Gillis, a native of Calgary, posted a closing round of five-over par 76 to finish at 12-over par 154, good for a tie for 19
th. The applied science major had six birdies over his two rounds to match his second-best finish of the year.
The Heat will now begin preparations for the Golf Canada Canadian Championship set for June 3-6 at the Idylwylde Golf Club in Sudbury, Ont.
