BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The UBC Okanagan Heat men's golf team put in a strong showing in their final tournament before the Canada West Championships, finishing sixth overall in a 13-team field at the Western Washington Invitational.
As a team, the Heat finished at two-under par 862 at the NCAA Division II event, just one shot outside of a three-way tie for third place with Chico State, Colorado Mesa and host Western Washington.
That showing was propelled by an impressive final round in which the Heat shot seven-under par 281 as a team, the seventh-lowest round of any team over the three-round tournament.
Third-year
Andrew Rouble of Wellesley, Ont., and second-year
Ryan Gillis of Calgary, led the way for the Heat as both golfers finished at five-under par 211.
Rookie
Thomas Lemay of Trois-Rivières, Que., also earned his first career Top 20 finish after shooting even-par 216.
UBCO will now turn their attention to the 2024 Canada West Golf Championships which are set to get underway on Monday, October 7 at the Okanagan Golf Club.
