Stefanie Young scored the lone goal of Saturday's match to give the UBC Okanagan Heat women's soccer team a 1-0 win over the Thompson Rivers WolfPack at Nonis Sports Field.
Young, a Kelowna product, buried a header in the 33rd minute, after a great cross from West Kelowna, B.C., native
Abigail Taneda. The assist by Taneda was one of many great plays from the Heat forward who took home player of the game honours Taneda for her efforts.

Talia Gagnon, from Dieppe, N.B., earned her first career clean sheet as she moved to 2-0-1 on the season. The performance also helped her team gain an advantage in the first game of the 2023-24 Presidents' Cup as UBCO now leads the competition with a 1-0-0 record.

The third year sciences student added to her career assist total on Saturday with her second of the season, and she now has seven with the Heat, which is tops in program history.
Kat Stewart- TRU Wolfpack
Stewart, a rookie from Oshawa, Ont., had a team-high two shots, including one on goal in 20 minutes off the bench.

The win keeps UBCO undefeated at 2-0-1 as they move into first place in the Canada West Pacific division. Meanwhile the 'Pack sit sixth in the division with a 1-2-0 record.
The Heat women are reigning back-to-back champions of President's Cup and the win this afternoon puts them in the drivers seat as they chase their third consecutive title

UBCO will battle their sister school rivals, the UBC Thunderbirds (2-0-0), on Friday September 8th at Nonis Sports Field in a showdown for top spot in the division. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. and tickets to the game are free for all fans.
