KELOWNA, B.C.- The UBC Okanagan Heat men's golf team is excited to announce the signing of two recruits for the 2023-24 season in Ryan Gillis and Max Regier.
Gillis is a Calgary native who brings strong experience to the Heat roster for the 2023-24 season. The Bishop Carroll HS student has enjoyed a number of strong finishes in his junior golf career including a tie for fourth at the Alberta Junior Championship, a tie for fifth at the Alberta U17 Championship and a tie for seventh at the NextGen Fall Series-Western Championship. He also finished second at the Alberta High School Championship and tied for 49th at the Canadian Junior Boys Championship. In 2022, Gillis held an impressive 73.3 tournament scoring average.
The three-time honour roll student has applied for the Bachelor of Applied Science program.
As for Regier, who hails from Saskatoon, he also brings a strong resume with him to the Heat. The Walter Murray Collegiate student holds many achievements including multiple wins as the U17 Saskatchewan provincial champion in 2021 and 2022. He also became the Saskatchewan high school provincial champion in 2022. His other outstanding accomplishments include participating in the Junior Men's Nationals in 2021 and 2022.
Another three-time honour roll student, Regier has been accepeted into the Bachelor of Health and Exercise Science program.

Clay Stothers on his new latest additions. "The experience and success both golfers have had at the junior level will help raise the competitiveness of our team as we look to take the next step as a program in 2023-24."
Both Ryan and Max will begin their time with UBCO next fall while the rest of the Heat men's golf program kicks off the spring portion of their schedule next weekend. UBCO will be in Nevada for a pair of tournaments against American competition including the RMC Collegiate from March 7-8 and the Warrior Invitational from March 10-11.
