KELOWNA, B.C - After earning an upset victory on Friday night over the No. 7-ranked Alberta Pandas, the UBC Okanagan Heat women's volleyball team came away with a split of their weekend series with the Pandas as they fell in three sets on Saturday.
Despite dropping the opening set to the Pandas, the Heat would not go down without a fight as Amaya Perry of Chin, Alta., helped her team jump out to a 7-1 lead in the second set thanks to back-to-back aces. She would finish the match with three aces as she continues her climb up the Canada West record books, now ranked 23rd all-time in conference history with 121 aces.
Both teams would post lengthy service runs in the set but ultimately, the visitors would steal the second 27-25 with a three-point run to close the set.
Alberta would ride the momentum of the second set victory to take the match in three sets.
