Men's volleyball drops decision to No. 2 Alberta

Nationally-ranked Golden Bears earn second straight win over Heat

KELOWNA, B.C - The UBC Okanagan men's volleyball team closed out the final home game in 2023 with a three set loss to the U SPORTS No. 2-ranked Alberta Golden Bears on Saturday.

The Golden Bears showed why they are ranked second in the country as they hit .415 in the match to take the victory.

Middle's Teo Ardanaz of Tsawwassen, B.C., and Thys Weststrate of Kelowna, B.C., were two brights spots for the Heat, firing five kills each in the match.

Putting down five kills and a block, the fifth-year middle took home player of the game honours with his performance.

Isaac Heslinga - Alberta Golden Bears
The third-year outside hitter from Orangeville, Ont., had another big night with 13 kills, two aces and four blocks for 17 points to lead the way for the visitors.

WHERE THEY STAND
With tonight's loss the Heat's record falls to 1-9, while the Golden Bears earn another tick in the win column putting their record now at 9-3.

UP NEXT
The Heat are on the road next weekend as they take on the Manitoba Bisons in a weekend doubleheader as they close out their games for the 2023 portion of their schedule. The first game is set for for 5:45 p.m. (PT) on Friday, December 1. You can catch the action live on Canada West TV.
