LONDON, Ont. – Four members of the UBC Okanagan Heat men's cross country program competed at the 2023 U SPORTS Championships, hosted by the Western Mustangs, on Sunday at Thames Valley Golf Course.
Second-year
Isaac Baker of Surrey, B.C., competing at his first national championship, finished as the top Heat runner as he placed 104
th of 157 competitors. The health and exercise sciences major completed the eight-kilometer course in 27 minutes, 3.3 seconds.
Fourth-year
Connor Baerg of Burlington, Ont., finished just behind Baker, placing 114
th in a time of 27:15.6 in his second-ever appearance at the U SPORTS Championships.
The Heat racers were rounded out by
Russell Pearson of Toronto, and
Christopher Crowe of Kamloops, B.C., who were both racing for the first time at nationals. Pearson posted a time of 27:24.5 while Crowe crossed the line in 27:39.7.
