Men's volleyball falls in four sets to Mount Royal

An entertaining match went the way of the host Cougars to open weekend doubleheader

CALGARY - The UBC Okanagan Heat men's volleyball team dropped their second game of the season on Friday night as they lost a tough battle to the Mount Royal Cougars in four sets 13-25, 25-23, 20-25, and 17-25.

Despite an initial setback, with the first set going to the Cougars, the Heat regrouped and kept the second set close. Ultimately, the Heat secured a set victory at 25-23, thanks to a 6-4 run to close out the set, squaring the match at one.

Thys Westsrate, a Kelowna, B.C. native, delivered a series of explosive kills in the frame, which proved instrumental for UBCO, and he would go on to finish the match with six kills.

Despite a spirited comeback effort, Mount Royal regained momentum by capturing the third set and ultimately secured the match in four sets.
