Jas Dhudwal earned tournament all-star status, averaging 12 points and 9.6 rebounds as the Heat competed in the McGill Basketball Classic this past weekend.
Dhudwal, a fourth-year forward in his first year with the Heat, recorded a pair of double-doubles in three games in Montreal. On Sunday against hosts McGill, Dhudwal grabbed nine offensive boards on his way to a 16-point, 14-rebound outing. A native of Surrey, B.C., Dhudwal played his first three collegiate years for the Langara Falcons in PACWEST where he averaged 9.2 points and 12.2 rebounds last season.
The Heat were topped 83-77 by Redbirds, but got a strong outing from returning senior
Hafith Moallin, who dropped 21 points with six assists.
UBCO fell by a score of 90-77 to the Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday, followed by a 77-66 loss to the Dalhousie Tigers on Saturday.
In two weeks, the Heat open their regular season at home against the Winnipeg Wesmen. Tip-offs are queued for 5 p.m. on Friday, November 3 and 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 4. Tickets are available at the door or catch the action on Canada West TV.
