VANCOUVER - A trio of second-half markers led the No. 1 UBC Thunderbirds to a 3-0 win over the visiting UBC Okanagan Heat in Canada West women's soccer action Friday at Thunderbird Stadium.
The Heat frustrated the top-ranked team in the country for 45 minutes with strong defensive play but Nisa Reehal (New Westminster, B.C.) was able to break the scoreless draw in the 56th minute.
The Thunderbirds uses a pair of late goals to increase their lead to three and stay unbeaten at home.

The quartet of Sonia Sarai (Surrey, B.C.), Lauryn Padmoroff (North Vancouver, B.C.), Holly Tarves (North Vancouver, B.C.), and Lauren Elmes (Delta, B.C.) were a formidable force for much of Friday's match. The Heat's back four stood tall against the conference's highest-scoring team.

The third-year midfielder found the game's opening goal, stripping the ball and burying one past Heat keeper Molly Race (Vernon, B.C.)
WHERE THEY SIT
The loss drops UBCO to 2-5-2 on the year, sitting six points behind both Victoria and Thompson Rivers, holders of the final playoff spots in the Pacific division. UBC's win helps them stay atop the Pacific division table, improving to 9-1-0 on their season.
