Men's volleyball downed by Huskies

Heat suffer third straight setback in straight sets loss to Saskatchewan

SASKATOON, Sask. - It was a tough start to the weekend for the UBC Okanagan Heat men's volleyball team as they were topped in three sets Friday night by the hosting Saskatchewan Huskies by scores of 25-22, 25-20 and 25-19.

The Huskies were led by Dylan Mortensen of Swift Current, Sask., as he racked up a game-best 14 kills while Levi Olsen from Saskatoon, Sask., recorded 11 of his own.

Renn Petryk, of Edmonton, had a team-high nine kills for the Heat while Seba Manuel, a Kelowna, B.C., product chipped in with six of his own.


The Huskies would hit an efficient .319 percent outscoring UBCO 50-40 over the match.

The rookie hitter is finding his stride in Canada West play this season, adding four blocks to his six kills.

Dylan Mortensen - Saskatchewan
The 6-8 hitter was an effective .500 percent on 22 attacks in the Huskies win, adding an ace and two blocks for a 16-point performance.

WHERE THEY SIT
The loss is UBCO's third straight as they fall to 4-7 on the year, while the Huskies win their fourth in a row improving to 7-4.
