Men’s basketball sweeps WolfPack on President’s Cup weekend

Jalen Shirley scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Heat to back-to-back wins over Thompson Rivers

KAMLOOPS, B.C.- Jalen Shirley was the catalyst for the UBC Okanagan Heat men's basketball's offence on Saturday evening as he scored 22 points to lead them to a victory against the Thompson Rivers WolfPack 92-68 in Kamloops.

Shirley (Brampton, Ont.) was a spark for the entire game as he scored in multiple ways. He hit two three's, finished tough at the basket and sealed the game with an emphatic dunk in the dying seconds. He also contributed five rebounds and two assists.
Elan Kimpton-Cuellar (Roberts Creek, B.C.) was a force in the middle for the Heat. He finished the game with a double-double tallying 10 points to go along with 11 rebounds. Keaton Souster (Sherwood Park, Alta.) gave the Heat some timely offensive rebounds to keep possessions alive and keep them ahead for good. Souster finished the game with nine points and eight rebounds.

The Wolfpack kept the game within striking distance for most of the first half. The second half was a much different story as the Heat came out and went on a big run in the third quarter to seal the victory.
