KELOWNA, B.C. - On Saturday night at the UBC Okanagan Gymnasium, the key matchup was between two star point guards in the UBCO Heat's Hafith Moallin and UNBC Timberwolves' Tyrell Laing, the pair did not disappoint. 

The Heat would take the game (84-78) but not to be overshadowed was the performance of Tyrell Laing who finished with a team-high 27 points, six assists, and six boards for the T-Wolves. In what could be described as his best game in a Heat uniform, Moallin recorded 28 points of his own, a career-high, adding seven boards, three assists, and three steals.

The weekend sweep improves UBCO's record to (3-13) on the year, while the back-to-back losses for UNBC drops their record to (4-10).

The host fell behind by 12 within the first four minutes of the game but Moallin's seven points would help the Heat claw their way to a (20-20) tie by the first quarter's end.

UNBC bounced back, with Laing as their facilitator, to take a (38-35) lead into the half. Both Laing's 15 and Moallin's 9 were team-highs through 20 minutes.

In a back and forth second half, neither team was able to take a solid grip on the game.

After Vova Pluzhnikov layed in two of his 17 points in the game, giving UNBC the lead, Moallin would have a key steal off of rival counterpart Laing. He then burst down the lane to tie the game right back up.

Down the stretch, the Heat found insurance points from the likes of big man Owen Keyes, who finished with 18 points and seven boards, and Sebago Jean-Charles with his nine points and team-high six assists.

Also in double-digit scoring were UNBC's Fareed Shittu with 12 points, chipping in seven boards as well, and UBCO's Philip Okanlawon with 13 points connecting on three treys.

Both teams are back in action next weekend. The Heat continue their homestand as they host the (8-5) Winnipeg Wesman at 6 p.m. PST next Friday. Also on Friday, the Timberwolves head home for a date with the (1-13) Brandon Bobcats.
