QUEBEC CITY, QC - Aidan Lea, the third-year middle for the UBC Okanagan Heat, was named to the 2018 U SPORTS women's volleyball All-Canadian team announced Thursday night at the annual All-Canadian gala.
Aidan Lea had an outstanding season to earn the national All-Star award, in her just her second year with the Heat she was one of the most feared and effective middles in the conference evidenced by her efficiency with the kill, the second highest mark in the conference at .336.
Playing in all 24 matches Lea logged 88 sets of court time and amassing 226 kills or 2.57 per set for the balanced Heat attack that had an unprecedented four players with over 225 kills on the same team.
Lea is the third UBC Okanagan volleyball player to be selected to highest award in the nation since UBCO started competing at the highest level of university sports competition in U SPORTS.
Interestingly all of the previous award winners for the Heat have also been middles, Katie Wuttunee in 2015-16 and Katy Klomps in 2014-15 are the other two award winning UBCO middles.

UBC Okanagan, has now earned 6 U SPORTS awards overall since it joined the U SPORTS in September of 2011. Soccer started competing in U SPORTS in the fall of 2014.
