Fourth-year middle Thys Weststrate played a major role for the Heat in their first-ever home playoff series last weekend against the Manitoba Bisons.
 
The Kelowna native shone bright each night, leading UBCO in kills and points in two of the three games. During the series, Weststrate recorded 45 kills, three aces, 25 digs and 16 blocks for 57.5 points. Amazingly, Weststrate hit a sparkling 0.429 percent, posting two of the top seven single playoff game hitting marks in program history. His 20.5 points in the Heat’s Game 2 win was also tied for the third-highest point total in a single game in team history.
 
This marks the second time this season, and fifth time in his career, that Weststrate has been named an Athlete of the Week.
