Gillis was instrumental in leading the Heat to their second straight Canada West Championship last week at the Chilliwack Golf Club. The third-year applied science major finished the tournament tied for second at nine-under par 135, ultimately bringing home the individual bronze medal after a tiebreak. His tournament was punctuated by an impressive second round where he shot six-under par 66 that featured an eagle, five birdies and one bogey.
 
This marks the first time this season, and third time in his career, that Gillis has been named an Athlete of the Week.
