Biography

PERSONAL: Megan was a member of the 2013 Team Alberta Canada Games 20U women's squad. When she joined the Heat for the 2012/13 season, it gave her the opportunity to play alongside older sister Jill Festival. In her final year of high school Megan won the Myrna Empey Scholarship, which is based on volleyball, academics, community and school involvement.s he has won eight gold medals at competitions such as the Volleyball Canada Beach Nationals, the National Team Challenge Cup, the Alberta Volleyball Provincials, and the Indoor Nationals, in which she was the team captain. Megan represented Canada as team captain at the 2010 Norceca Competition in Guatemala, placing seventh overall. She was also a part of the 14U Canadian West Open winning team in 2008 and the Volleyball Canada 17U Nationals winning team in Spring 2011.

UBC OKANAGAN 2012-13 (1ST YEAR)

  • Megan played in all 22 Canada West matches as a rookie
  • Finished with 101 kills and compiled 109 digs
  • Had a season high 18 kills and 17 digs against Winnipeg (Feb. 1)
  • Was named the Heat Rookie of the Year.

UBC OKANAGAN 2013-14 (2ND YEAR)

  • Played in all 22 Canada West matches this season
  • USPORTS Academic All-Canadian
  • Led the team this season in kills with 179 and in service aces with 25
  • Second on the team in digs with 182
  • Second highest kill percentage on the team this season with 2.49 kills per set
  • Had a season high 20 kills against Regina (Feb 7) and tallied a season high of 20 digs versus Regina (Feb 8).

UBC OKANAGAN 2014-15 (3RD YEAR)

  • Finalist for the UBC Okanagan Female Student Athlete of the Year
  • Played in every match and had a career-high 224 kills on the season along with a career-high 44 service aces
  • Had 245 digs and 27 total blocks

UBC OKANAGAN 2015-16 (4TH YEAR)

  • USPORTS Academic All-Canadian
  • Finished the year with 212 kills, 34 service aces and 221 digs
  • Helped win a National Bronze Medal

UBC OKANAGAN 2016-17 (5TH YEAR)

  • Named UBC Okanagan Female Graduating Player of the Year
  • Recipient of the Heat Scholar-Athlete Award
  • Career-high 261 digs on the season
  • Also had 172 kills and 43 service aces on the year
