Biography

PERSONAL: Katy has been selected for Team BC 20U Women's team along with four teammates (Kaitlynn GivenKatie WuttuneeEmily OxlandBrianna Beamish) that will participate in the 2013 Canada Games ...she is currently enrolled in the Human Kinetics program ... has competed with Heat teammate Brianna Beamish as a part of the Seaside Surf club team ... won the 16U Provincial and National Championships in 2009 and earned all-star honours, the 17U Provincial Championship in 2010 and the BC High School AA Championship in Fall 2010 ... was voted BC's #1 female high school graduating prospect and named The Province's BC Co-Player of the Year....In May of 2015 Katy travelled with her sister, Erin Klomps, and one other to Romania and volunteered with Children's hospitals. 


 

UBC OKANAGAN 2011-12: Played all 20 possible Canada West matches for the Heat ... tallied a season high 13 kills and 5 digs against Calgary (Dec 2), also converting a commanding 50% of her kills on the night ... was 4th in the CIS overall in total blocks with 85 and 5th overall in block assists with 64 ... 20th overall in the CIS in hitting percentage with 25.5% on the season ... named the Heat Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Year.

UBC OKANAGAN 2012-13: Played in the team's first 16 matches before landing on an ankle in the first set in the Jan 25 match at UBC...recorded a season high 10 blocks and 13 kills Nov. 10 at Mount Royal...Nov. 17 vs. Manitoba Katy converted 12/15 kill attempts for a .733 percentage....attempted to play in the team's quarterfinal's versus Mount Royal Feb. 14-15...Averaged 1.61 kills/set....264 kill%...1.30 blocks per set (4th best in CIS)...in a short season her 79 blocks was 6th best in the nation.

UBC OKANAGAN 2013-14: Played all 22 Canada West matches this season … led the team in attack percentage with .310 on the season and in total blocks with 108 … eighth in CIS in hitting percentage and second in total blocks … tallied a season high 15 blocks versus Mount Royal (Nov 2) … logged a season best 12 kills versus Winnipeg (Nov 23) and versus Alberta (Jan 24) … got a season high 6 digs versus Alberta (Jan 24).

UBC OKANAGAN 2014-15:Was the school's first ever to be named to the CIS All-Canadain team....Was awarded the school's 'Most Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year Award' - for the second straight year....Played 21 Canada West matches and 85 sets this season…She tallied the most blocks in the nation (135) and the highest blocks per set total (1.59) in Canada...and now is second all-time in career total blocks in Canada West with (407)....Was named a Canada West first team all-star and was twice honoured as a Canada West Athlete of the Week...she set a career high in a match with 14 kills versus TRU on Jan. 17, 2015....was the recipient of the prestigious Ray Lepp scholarship issued by Volleyball BC....
