PERSONAL: A graduate of Kelowna Secondary School, he was named to the Junior National Team in 2016. Coming out of high school he was ranked No. 7 in the Province Class of 2015 top 15 list but decided to stay at home and play for the Heat. An all-around athlete, he played basketball up to grade 11 and competed on the KSS golf team. A Provincial All-Star throughout high-school and two-time AAA Boys Provincial Championship silver medalist. His Dad is a former USPORTS All-Canadian at the University of Victoria and is currently an assistant coach for the Heat.
UBC OKANAGAN 2015-2016 (1ST YEAR)
- Started all but one of the 24 Canada West matches for the Heat. Voted to the Canada West All-Rookie team
- Led UBCO in service reception percentage (2.5) as well as total digs (219) which was 3rd overall in Canada West in the CIS
- Team high and season high 18 digs versus Brandon on Nov. 21 (tied for 3rd for program record). 2nd in program history for total digs (219) in season
- In 11 of his 23 matches Risso totaled double digits in digs
- Won the UBC Okanagan Rookie of the Year
UBC OKANAGAN 2016-2017 (2ND YEAR)
- Led the Canada West in both digs (295) and digs per set (3.43). Both are school records for the Heat
- Started all 24 Canada West matches and set a new school record with 27 digs in a match against the University of Calgary
- Reached double digit digs in 15 matches
UBC OKANAGAN 2017-18 (3RD YEAR)
- Led the conference in digs per set (2.65) for the second straight season and finished second in the Canada West in total digs (225)
- Had a season-high 20 digs on Nov.11th at home in a four-set win against MacEwan
